Yeah I did happen to see a couple clips of the other version too and I can imagine especially with a group like ATEEZ giving them specific songs/things to do that they don’t support the decision of or aren’t okay with, it shows because of how genuine of a group they are and it does honestly suck if they didn’t get the choice. I’m not really in the know on how different shows do things but seems like it really depends on which program and everything, but ATEEZ did the best they could and absolutely killed their performances

Thanks for letting me know cause it was driving me crazy that I couldn’t think of what sounded so familiar😂 yeah they absolutely killed it and I love to hear all the praise that they’re getting, they deserve every bit of it. I actually haven’t watched it, I’ve seen maybe a clip or two but I’m for sure going to check it out too, thanks!(:

2022-12-22 14:58:11 +0000 UTCWhat’s interesting about their cover is that the version with their white outfits was prerecorded and aired on broadcast but at the actual venue, Ateez “performed” it in person and I put performed in quotes bc they were NOT feeling it lol. Never seen San dance with so little passion 😅 we’re all assuming that they either didn’t like the fact that they were made to lip sync and/or did not like the song choice. KBS was kind of setting them up since the original has some problematic lyrics, which Ateez did change. Hongjoong said on Universe after that the song wasn’t their choice… seems KBS picked and chose who performed what cover for the Y2K theme.

2022-12-21 15:41:50 +0000 UTCyes, T.O.P is originally by SHINHWA (a 1st gen group that used to be under SM) and since KBS wanted to go with the y2k theme, they asked artists to cover old popular songs for the nostalgia. T.O.P is extremely popular and loved amongst Koreans not only because it was SHINHWA's but because it sampled "Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake" classical piece which is why it sounded familiar to you. What makes their appearance in this festival special to me is the fact that not only was it their first ever, but the amount of praise they got (both on twitter and from those who attended it). ATEEZ received a crazy amount of praise for singing live and surprised everyone at the venue especially with their hard choreo. According to the K-Atinys that were there, fans kept saying they might start stanning them if this is how they always are on stage (and apparently those who were talked about a lot were the demon line + Jongho). Aside from the praise, fans were laughing at how all artists had their "y2k" outfits then there's ATEEZ looking like a group of revolution, which is their message, so KQ was smart for that lol. Since you loved this one, I can't remember if you ever mentioned watching or if you reacted to last year's SBS Gayo Daejeon, but if you didn't then I'll recommend watching it because it was extremely fun, and they killed it as always (their fits? *chefs kiss*).
