Thank you everyone, for supporting Meatier Showers over the past few months since it's last hiatus. There's no shortage of content online these days, and I cannot express enough how grateful and humbled I am by everyone who has chosen to support my comic project. Meatier Showers has always been a place of solace and refuge for me, and I hope it continues to be that way for everyone else, whether you've been a long-time fan or new reader discovering the series.
A Difficult Decision
With that said, it is with great difficulty and reluctance on my part to announce that I will be going on hiatus till January 2025. This means that I will be freezing all Patreon billing for this project, and you will not be charged beyond all paid content for August 2024. The freeze will begin once transactions for the previous month of August has been fully processed,
I am cognizant of the fact that a handful of generous supporters have signed up, pledging a full year’s worth of support at the discounted rate. Rest assured, I have every intention to fulfill the promise of the remaining months you have supported, starting January 2025. I only ask for everyone's patience and understanding in my current situation, which I'll explain below.
Where is Meatier Showers 2024 Now?
As of this posting, the project has progressed and arrived at the 33% mark of production, with a total of 6 out of 18 pages being fully inked and toned, and another 2 which have been recently lettered with dialogues. The remaining ⅔ of the project is expected to resume production in Jan 2025. I will continue to use this platform to keep all Patreon supporters updated and informed with early access previews.
Why is This Happening?
For context, my part-time university degree started on the 12 August. With that, my bandwidth for anything beyond my day job (10.30am - 7.30pm) or academia has been limited to say the least. I have been swarmed with assignments and am currently overwhelmed by the study load, on top of my work commitments. I have undertaken this part-time degree because the job market here is very competitive and paper-driven. In order for me to pivot into a different industry from my original diploma, this is an initiative of my own accord to open up more opportunities for the future. I have little time for myself now, let alone decent rest.
When Will Updates Resume?
Currently, I have to meet monthly assignment deadlines for 4 modules and am expecting to sit for my first examinations mid November, prior to which I will have to study and prepare myself for. I am expecting to be fully occupied from mid-August all till the end of Novemeber, after which I will need the rest of December to rest and reboot the production flywheel for Meatier Showers. My personal goal is to resume regularly schedule content updates in Jan 2025.
So What Now?
All that said, I would like to appeal and ask for your patience as I try my best to survive my first semester - exam week stretches between 11 - 23 Nov 2024. After which I will be having my 2-week vacation and reevaluating many of my life choices - and reducing my study load to just 2 modules each semester (I’m allowed a total of 8 years to complete my part-time degree, and it’s not something I’m in a hurry for). Once I’m back from my vacation, I’ll most likely need December to cobble my resources and rebuild momentum for my production flywheel.
TLDR Version
I’ll be freezing Patreon billing for Meatier Showers from Sep 2024 till Jan 2025. I am seeking everyone’s understanding in this matter as I attempt to clear my first semester with my part-time BA in Communications. I am aware that some supporters have already pledged a full year’s worth of support, and I have every intention to fulfill that promise, with content updates resuming in Jan 2025.
