“Please, let me go!” Josh sputtered.

Kyoko ignored the boy as she hit the gas, speeding further and further away from Tokyo.

“You can’t do this to me!”

“Did your countrymen listen to my sister when she pleaded?”

“What happened to your sister? I didn’t do anything!”

“Shhh. They didn’t give her a chance to plead. They gagged her and taped her mouth. And that’s what I should do to you.”

“No!”

Kyoko slapped him.

“Stay quiet if you want to live.”

Josh wisely abided.

They were passing by woods and villages. Mountains lay ahead. Josh recognized the words “national parks” on the highway signs.

Abruptly, Kyoko slowed the car down and veered to the right, towards an exit. Josh, who was not buckled in and was attached to the door handle at the wrist by handcuffs, had to grab onto the glove box with his right hand to prevent his head from smashing into the front panel.

“Hey, hey, can you drive smoother?”

Kyoko ignored him. She slammed the brakes as she stopped at a gas station. Josh caught himself again, but he felt like he had broken his hand.

The car was parked in the corner of a Cosmo station. There was one car refueling and another car parked outside the convenience store.

If I can just reach the door maybe I can open it and get into the parking lot and shout that I’ve been kidnapped…

Josh’s hand throbbed with pain, but he was going to try it. He moved his hand haltingly towards the door. He was within centimeters of grabbing the handle when Kyoko grabbed his ring finger and pulled it back. It felt like she would break it.

“After I saw what they did to my sister, I studied karate. And kinbaku.”

She had used the alternative word for “tying/binding”—not “shibari.” “Kinbaku” means “to tie so tightly one cannot move.” It also typically refers to the emotional or sexual connection between the rope tier and the tied.

With that, she began wrapping a black jute rope around Josh, over, under, and around his arms, chest, neck, and the seat. She worked so quickly, Josh couldn’t tell what was happening until he was completely unable to move.

“There, that should keep you safe.”

Josh was so freaked out he was mentally unable to speak.

Then, a flash of something frilly came in his eyes, and the thing was stuck in his mouth. Josh’s dry mouth felt the fabric in his mouth. And he tasted something wet, too. Was it Kyoko’s panties? Not just her panties, but her dirty panties?

“And this should keep you quiet until we arrive at the place.”
