Throwing Rocks at Josh - The Film Student #29

Palm-sized rocks rained down around Josh. The terrified boy sprinted towards the cabin and tripped over a root in front of the door.

Kyoko had a perfect shot at him. She could have split his skull open if she had wanted to. She tossed a ball of granite that landed a couple of feet to the right. She wasn’t trying to hit him. She had other plans for him. But Josh didn’t know that!

Josh fell to his hands on knees and grabbed the railing of the veranda. He was already fatigued from having endured the long car ride in a state of terror. The Mogadon pills Kyoko fed him made his muscles weak. There were just three stairs, but he struggled to crawl up them.

Kyoko laughed as she leaned against her car watching the scene unfold. The effects of the fog machine Kyoko had used were wearing off, and the road to the cabin was visible again.

Josh had apparently believed everything she’d said about the woods, so he didn’t dare run towards them. (Kyoko could have taken him down with one hit if he had tried.) In fact, she had combined stories of a couple of other haunted forests around Japan.

But there was one thing she hadn’t planned: the lights of the cabin had mysteriously turned on. A nice touch, whichever goddess had arranged that.

Josh crawled to the top of the stairs and pushed into the door. It was unlocked, as Kyoko had left it.

In front of him, Josh saw a bed with plush white covers and a pile of puffy pillows. It looked so comfortable to him. He was nearly unable to move. He wormed himself towards the bed.

It took all of his strength to pull himself up from the floor onto the mattress. But it felt so nice! His eyes closed. He entered the calm, peaceful void. He hadn't seen the restraints hanging under each corner of the mattress.
