We have tall-poppy syndrome, convict/jailer heritage, an underdog identity/ethos, if a celeb goes 5 mins without self-deprecating then we hate them; etc. These are mostly good things IMO โฆ but yeah the downside is we celebrate songs with 3 chords; mullets and gross moโs; bland beer; mismatching outfits; disheveled clothes that donโt fit; etc. I think a large portion of us WANT to look drab because the Australian mentality allows it to be a โstyleโ. (Donโt get me wrong, a lot of people around me where I now live tend to dress worse โฆ but datโs called โpovertyโ ๐ฌ lol)
