I'm back, and what's been going on.
Added 2022-01-22 20:26:06 +0000 UTCHeyo. I'm sure you noticed I kinda just vanished. Truth is I just got completely burnt out with Youtube. I got tired of the whole thing, chasing views, the downward spiral of relevance, underperforming videos and the constant pressure of juggling making what you want to make vs what is relevant and will perform better. And the whole world situation over the past few years didn't help. It's hard to be motivated to make Youtube videos when you're basically done with life anyway.
So basically, I just needed a break. Like a proper break, as in, not even feeling guilty about it and just completely ignoring EVERYTHING to do with Youtube. Which maybe wasn't the best approach and frankly, I've probably lost a ton of patreons and subscribers but oh well.
Since then I've been on somewhat of a journey of self discovery, and what I want, and if I want to even do this anymore. Youtube has been so unpleasant for me for a while now that I did consider quitting.
But alas, after much self reflection I have returned. So thank you very much for those who have stuck around.
Anyways, here's what's gonna change in order to keep me interested in Youtube, and some of you probably won't like it but here it is:
1) Barely any animation. I can make an entire video IN A DAY, if I don't worry about animation. It just takes so much effort, and it's not worth it. With the rise of vtubers and such, the novelty isn't even there and most people don't care. Heck most people just listen to videos anyway. So this frame by frame lip syncing which delays videos by weeks isn't worth it, and frankly drains my will to live at this point. So, most videos will have a little intro and outro, and otherwise probably no animation. So I think I'd rather be able to get content out fast rather than losing interest mid-video and thus losing motivation.
2) I'm just gonna make videos about what I want. Which might seem obvious but usually whenever I do that, the video performs terribly, which in term makes me feel bad about myself and hopeless about Youtube. But now since I'm in a position where the alternative is to let my channel die, I might as well not worry eitherway. Might as well just do what I want cos trying to play the Youtube "game" didn't work out for me anyway.
3) Gonna have to rework Patreon. I promise stuff but I can't follow through with it. This means the $10 tier is just gonna be wiped. I ain't been able to really do many exclusive videos at all and when I do I'm not entirely sure people are even watching them. And I constantly feel pressure and overwhelming guilt for not keeping up with the promises. So it's just going, even if it means I lose a ton of Patreon income. I'd rather take the L than feel like shit all the time.
So that's basically it. I might even have to change the Patreon pledges to monthly cos I suspect I will be churning out a crap ton of content now. Which would be unreasonable to be a per video basis. But I'll do that if I actually follow through with my plans first.
Anyways, sorry for going silent. Thank you SO much for still being here. We now entering the next phase of Lonely Goomba content. Enjoy~

I hope you're doing alright. And yeah people have been doing character stills for a long ass time so likely won't matter. Looking forwards to what you decide to make, ill admit I did enjoy the animation but the visual style and commontary is the main appeal. Whatever happens wish you the best, won't blame ya if you quit, YouTube is a garbage fire.

2022-01-24 12:13:02 +0000 UTCI am here for your sense of humor. While the animations were nice they were more of an extra than the main appeal of your content. I am glad to see that you took a step back to think about your position instead of getting completely burned out and quitting video making entirely. I am looking forward to seeing more videos from you.
2022-01-23 21:57:43 +0000 UTCIt's just good to hear you're back, I'm looking forward to your future videos animations or not!

2022-01-23 09:23:54 +0000 UTCYou got this
2022-01-22 22:14:52 +0000 UTCI would be sad if you quit YouTube, so I’m glad that you decided to come back. Your humor and insights into games are what make your videos special, so I don’t think losing the animations is a problem. I’m excited to see what you do next and will be here to support!

2022-01-22 20:39:57 +0000 UTCGlad to see you back man, can’t wait for more uploads. As long as you’re enjoying the vids you make they’ll be great
2022-01-22 20:37:20 +0000 UTCGlad to see you're still kicking. As always I'll just be back here enjoying whatever you do. And as a suggestion doing monthly charges for Patreon like you said above is a good change. I do that for mine and it eases the stress of making every video some sort of masterpiece and you can just focus on making stuff YOU like. Removing the animation from your videos will be a bit sad as I thought it was really charming, but you make a really good- yet sad point... VTubers have really killed the animated persona. not to say they're specifically to blame but the charm of having someone animated speak is reduced now that you can have a 3D (or 2D) model do it automatically. Regardless you should be happy to take a REAL break and I hope you keep doing what makes you happy. I'll go over more ideas in discord
2022-01-22 20:35:30 +0000 UTCI really hope you'll be feeling better in the near-ish future, buddy. I look foward to seeing what kinds of videos happen when you make them just your terms.

2022-01-22 20:29:57 +0000 UTCLooking forward to whatever new content you bring out is! And I'd be more than ok with paying a little more per month on patreon rather than $1 per video too :D
