Photon Walkthrough

Hey Everyone, here is the walkthrough for Photon. Both this and my other collaboration with Rinzen on the EP were started primarily in his studio, so a lot of the musical elements were recorded on hardware. Despite this, there's still a lot to learn here, including the importance of layering, serial processing, and aux channels. Feel free to drop any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

That makes perfect sense, thank you! Sounds like a low CPU way to get unique reverbs too. I'll try this out!

so its kinda the opposite. Convolution Reverb uses impulse responses (IR) which are essentially measurements/recording that "is" the sound of the room. So whereas most verb plugins are algorithmic (code), convolution actually uses the sound of a real room/space to simulate the reverb inside Ableton. So you can actually download IRs of real places around the world and use them. As for when I use one over the other, it's usually just me testing out both or just depending on what mood I'm in, etc. I like using it on acoustic instruments; the Ableton one has some great plates and rooms

This was great, if you ever needed proof that recording all takes is the way to go then this is it! I'm interested in how and when you choose to use Convolution Reverb. I've only recently discovered what it is and saw it a few times in this project. I imagine it's best used as an experimental effect on short sounds rather than using it to place a sound within a space, is that accurate?
