Studio Feed: Starting from Scratch #2 Pt. 6

Hey Everyone,

Back with part 6 on Track #2. This one is kinda all over the place, just me listening and making small adjustments on the mix, arrangement, transitions, etc. in a natural (i.e. random) fashion. Not the most 'productive' or 'efficient' session so to speak, but sometimes this kinda in-the-weeds stuff is necessary! Some notable events include:

-I bounce the Cycles granular piano bit to audio and comp the best sections together to have a more consistent rhythm and pattern throughout the song without too much variation.

-Working on enhancing and lifting the second half and beginning to create a crescendo into the outro

-Adding a low pad to support the bass and add some warmth (59:30)

-Adding strings at 1:06:00, though I eventually opt for something different later on

-Using an envelope follower from the cycles piano rhythm to give the Mellotron more movement (1:08:00)

-Creating an aux with heavy distortion to send musical parts to in order to create a big crescendo and have the track break apart a little into the outro. This is a bit of a theme on some of these album tracks I've been creating...

yeah I feel that. Especially because the last 10 hours I'm gonna spend on this will only change like 5% of the song but its an important 5% (or so I convince my perfectionist self haha). I do have a feeling though I may restructure the arrangement a bit and bang my head on the wall for a while trying to squeeze a better hook out of the vocal texture

I find watching you in this stage (nearing the end) and the very beginning super helpful. Taking a track from fully formed to polished is a really hard skill to develop and it's great to have insight into decisions that can be made to take a track from good to great. Thanks for this.
