So why is string theory so good mathematically?

this now makes sense in my head! we learned in math studies this about approaching infinity as x->0. it implied that the universe is infinite, but we are not sure about this. imagine string theory somehow proving that the universe is finite despite expanding from our perspective. have to wonder why string theory needs 11 dimensions.
