The team wanted to hire horses for the production but they had such a small monetary budget they could not afford the horses, so they just pretended to ride. The βbring out your deadβ scene refers to a time when the plague swept through cities in Europe. The dead would be collected from each home and then taken to a funeral pyre to be burned to stop the plague from spreading. I love this movie but in my humble opinion the next movie, Monty Pythonβs Life of Brian (1979) is even funnier and not quite so βabsurdβ. If you want to know more about the legend of King Arthur I suggest the movie Excalibur (1981).
