One of the goal of meditation is to disconnect your mind from your body And supposedly, you can stay in the meditative state for a very long time without food and water because your body's metabolism slows down almost to a stop. Some claim that there are monks who's been meditating for so long that their body went beyond the vegitative state and outright became plants. They are called sages.
