Oh man Law's back story is just gut wrenching and so heartbreaking and every time I watch it I'm a mess!

2025-06-24 07:43:52 +0000 UTCAlso, I feel like Oda didnโt make it completely clear how Luffy was able to unlock Lawโs sea prism stone handcuffs. I remember when Luffy and Violet first tried to free him, Luffy actually had the key, but he still couldnโt do it because of the sea prism stone. Then later on, he just unlocks them effortlessly. Iโm not complaining, thankfully Law didnโt stay cuffed for another 10 episodes phew ๐ฎโ๐จ but itโs one of those moments that makes you go, โWait, did I miss something?โ๐ค But honestly, I feel like Odaโs done this before, where small details get overlooked or brushed past to keep the story moving at a good pace. Itโs not a big deal, but itโs stuff like this that really stands out when youโre watching the show slower and not rushing through it. Makes a big difference.

Iโm so glad I rewatched it with you guys because that one line from Doflamingo really hit me this time: โIf I had gotten my hands on the Op-Op Fruit (Lawโs fruit), I couldโve used the national treasure of Mary Geoise.โ Likeโฆ what?! ๐คฏ๐คฏ I mustโve been binge-watching too hard back then because I definitely didnโt catch the weight of that line. Now I canโt stop overthinking it. I know you guys arenโt that far into the story yet, but the deeper you get, the more insane the world-building becomes. Everything just keeps expanding. Iโm now just on Reddit theories and One Piece podcasts trying to make sense of that one sentence lol ๐

More than anything, that particular moment was worse than anything in his backstory. Imagine how she must've felt seeing everything go to flames wishing her brother came back sooner.

I believe that's why it strikes so hard.) ___________________________ In the honour of the people of White Town. ~ shiro ~ Meaning: white Reading: shee-ro Kanji: ็ฝ Additional meanings of ็ฝ: innocence, innocent person, blank space In Japanese some nouns can be made into adjectives by simply adding an additive at the end of the word. Adding the vowel ใ ('i" as in 'quarantine') at the end of ็ฝ (shiro) will change it into ็ฝใ (shiroi). It also means 'white' but as an adjective and not a noun. The word ็ฝใ (shiroi) is used while describing a snow. Then, if you add it before the word ็บ (machi) meaning 'city' or 'town' you will get: - ็ฝใ็บ - - shiroi machi - - white town - These words were visible on the cover of the book that Doflamingo was reading - "็ฝใ็บ Flevance". "White Town Flevance". So Doflamingo was reading a book about the history of White Town after meeting Law. We can't see his face, since it was covered by the book, but he was definitely contemplating what he read. It feels painfully real - grounded in the kind of tragedy we've seen in our own world. Like you mentioned, weโve had our share of horrors with lead in paints, toys, even cosmetics. And weโve seen firsthand how fear of contagion can turn people cruel - entire populations abandoned, left to suffer. Whatโs truly heartbreaking is knowing the World Government was aware of it allโฆ and still chose profit over human lives. Itโs disturbingly familiar given the state of the world today. Odaโs backstories always reflect real-life issues, but this one cuts the deepest. Now we wait to see what really happened to Corazon and how it ties into Law. Absolute peak storytelling! On a different note, Seรฑor Pink was very different back then! So much so that you didn't recognise him at first! That made me laugh ๐ I think that could be a short ๐

Law accused Doflamingo of this when they were fighting, and then Doflamingo confirmed it, while also saying, "but its a little bit more complicated". Bad Translations can completely change the context of what someone is saying.

Also no we didnโt let the fact that doflamingo was a celestial dragon slip out early someone was commenting on the translation error of the website you guys were using saying that the translation was wrong instead of just calling doflamingo a celestial dragon. I remember this because I was the one who called it out just in case it was a spoiler but the mods checked and said it was okay. That was back on episode 642 when it was revealed doflamingo was a celestial dragon. But now since you guys are using crunchy roll again we wonโt have to worry about any mistranslation errors anymore! Congratulations to your son for graduating I remember the feelings I had around the time of my graduation. I graduated back in 2022 so it wasnโt that long ago but time is flying! ๐ค
