Diaries - Project Synthetic - 2025 Update

Hi guys!

Whew. It's been a while since I gave out my last update about Project Synthetic. Let's talk about it!

But first, I've got you guys an important announcement to make:

The Waning Reign of the Crescent Kingdom will be formally published on Royal Road on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, as a Web Novel. 20 Chapters is expected to be available during initial release for free, and a new Patreon page will be established to accommodate for the story development.

As of 21 June 2025, The Waning Reign of The Crescent Kingdom has 10 Chapters worth of content, as well as a 100-page-long storyline (in A4) that will be available on both Royal Road and on the new Patreon page. The official title would be localized to "Ascendance of Psionic Bloodline" in North America, to accommodate the market demands.

The Patreon version will include the custom-made CGs that are exclusively available on Patreon, as well as approximately 10-20 chapters ahead of the Royal Road version. The Royal Road version will be updated regularly every week, and the chapters in the Royal Road Version will be available for free.

Well, that's pretty out of nowhere....So what's going on?

The Waning Reign of the Crescent Kingdom was originally developed as a visual novel from May 20th, 2023. However, due to severe manpower constraints, it's getting harder and harder for me and "Alpha" to work in collab and to get it out the door. Unfortunately, we finally both decided to call it a day, and The Waning Reign of the Crescent Kingdom officially shifted into a Web Novel form in order to make the project a lot more feasible in the long run.

So how's "Alpha", then? What's going to happen to them?

Alpha is currently preoccupied with their new projects, and we both ended our terms in good faith. We'd still talk to each other, here and there. Mostly for multiplayer matches for now. 大丈夫！ 全部OK！

What have you guys been working on over the last few months?

Well, today's update is probably the shortest than I've previously done before, mostly because the project has been shifted to be a web novel. But I'd still give you guys some updates about it!

That's pretty much it for the updates! I wanna apologize to you guys since this project has been pretty much stuck in a development hell for quite a while. And I know for a fact that I could've just abandoned it for good, but instead, I personally feel that it's pretty much one of the only few options that I had in order for me to be able to survive.

For over the years, I've been doing pretty well in the job market and have always gotten myself right in front of the HR. However, being born as a Neurodivergent, I keep banking on my skills in hopes that it would get me right on the front door, knowing fully that my social skills would do me no good in this case.

And it kinda worked quite well, because most of these processes are fairly objective, so the selection process would often times go quite smoothly. But once I've managed to get myself in front of the HR, most of them could actually see my abnormalities, and the atmosphere in the air quickly changed for the worse. It's inevitable that in hindsight, the interview was already over, knowing fully that my presence was enough to make my own team to feel uncomfortable in the long run.

As a result, little did I know that my career had already over before it had even begun. With additional trial and error in figuring out the root cause of my failure, it is fairly clear that being an ND puts me at a disadvantage against the other candidates, despite the excellent track record that I already have. And yes, it is also why I decided to stop pursuing my tech certification as well. As a note, I'm doing fairly well right now, I guess. But I don't think I could eventually last very long due to my pre-existing condition.

With the lack of social support from the state, the lack of acceptance from the community, as well as my parents and "acquaintances" acting indifferent towards me, I figured it is necessary for me to take such a daring journey into the unknown, traversing alone into the abyss, and hopefully coming out in one piece as a whole.

That's pretty much the reason why I decided to continue the project, knowing full well it is nothing more than a sunk cost fallacy at this point. Hopefully, things will eventually change in November. I'll do my best in my endeavor, and I hope that you guys will enjoy it as well!

It's been 2 years ever since the project started its debut. So what's the story about?

It's a 「Sci-fi」 「Progression」 story that is primarily focused on human ascension. So, we're going to hear a lot about topics around transhumanism, including scientifically-based buffs that would help the characters out, or even about human appearance customization that is purely cosmetic.

In essence, the characters need to find a way to either evolve themselves or even ascend into a better species, where the purpose of the ascension is mostly to prepare themselves against a common adversary. There is an incentive for the character to get stronger, and they can only achieve that through transhumanism, or human ascension.

This could lead to the characters getting several evolutionary buffs that are extremely useful in nature, such as mimicry (invisibility), temperature adjustment, UV and infrared sight, sonar sensing, and many others. It is also possible for the characters to do "plug-and-play" based on the previously discovered evolutionary perks according to their situation, which leads to the usage of these perks to become 「strategic」.

I think it's gonna be fun to write this out. I don't know how well it would fare to be honest~ I'm leaning on the bad side since becoming a writer is just way too difficult to make a living, but I just wish that a lot of people would eventually be able to enjoy it!
