Project 31 - Update 2 - 08/19/2025

Hi guys!

My Iofi's 3D model is finally rigged and ready to be animated!

Just as I thought I was finally done with Iofi's model, boy was it truly hard for me to make her a custom texture out of the model. In total, there are 7 textures generated from Substance painter (denim), 7 decal textures, 3 patterns, 1 eye texture, and I think I also made a custom 2D Texture out of her sweater decal. I wish it were all fully available on her design sheet, but I guess I need to get my hands dirty on the tedious process for now.

Then I started to work on the rigging process right after, before finally setting my sight towards making the background model. So this is the most interesting part. I've scouted several studios that are working either on art or on video game by using 3DVF studios map and gamedevmap, hoping to eventually be able to localize the background model that suits with her personality (she doesn't have her own background model so I gotta make it myself). The results were, quite unsatisfactory to my standards to say the least. These are the studios that I've researched so far:

1. G〇〇〇〇〇〇t Indonesia

2. L〇〇〇〇n Studios Malaysia

3. 〇bi〇〇〇〇 Singapore

4. 〇bi〇〇〇〇 Philippines

5. G〇G New Zealand

Out of all of these studios, most of them are pretty hard to distinguish from one another. And I think number 5 is just the worst offender so far. I just find the environment to be, too normal. But boy does their art department really put up their weight on their games. Pretty insane.

With that said, I decided to settle towards the industrial look that was based on 〇bi〇〇〇〇 Montreal. I just feel like out of all of the studios I've researched, it's the only one that has a lot of character, and that's why I decided to go for that route!
