What's in store for 2018...

Well, besides a lot of cosplay and busts and figurines, I thought it was time to also share with you a small(err well not really small...) side project that I was working on exclusively for my Patreon members..

Now, don't get me wrong.. I know this particular project is a massive undertaking and thats why it will be done over the course of several months, it will not impede on the usual models - its just something that I have wanted to make for some 20 odd years and now finally have the tools to be able to do so and hope some others might want to also come on the journey.

What is it? Well for those of you not familiar with Aliens, there is a power load lifter that features in the second film. Now, there might be cosplays that exist made from foam or cardboard, or even printed ones - but they are exactly that, they are non-functioning costumes. Well, I don't see the point generally in making something someones already made, so I figure lets get as deep into it as we can and make a working suit, powered by cheap linear actuators and motors with thankfully, the feet cavity large enough to house all the battery power required to run the 12v actuators.

The video above is simply my first WIP.  I am not going to bit off more than I can chew. I am just working on the arms first (since they are mirrored, it makes sense as I only need to make one and mirror all the parts later) I have everything in place for the internals now, so that will be the next step. I would also love input from anyone on mechanics, especially if they see me using something and they think I could be using something better!

This is in itself a very difficult thing to reproduce and I am hoping that through the videos I post on me making all the parts for it, you see how I solve certain problems I might come across (in Blender) when making something as detailed as this.  Now that the main structure of the arm is complete I will post a video in the coming week of me breaking down and creating the mechanisms to actually get this thing working, then printed into a prototype.

Due to the sheer size of the thing - you do not want to be printing and re-printing parts.. no.. this has to be 200% perfect the first go, so as I said it will be a long process over the coming months but in this case one I hope to involve everyone in the creation of it along the way.
