Get ready to start printing...

I have been extremely busy working on this this and last month. I also have a few things going on here at home healthwise (not me) but its proving to be a difficult month so far in alot of aspects, but we'll power through.

The MK3 entire suit is completed. Right now it could be a static prop, but I'm most of the way through all of the pivots, joints and limitations. I know I was challenging myself when I started this but I am glad I did as once printed and complete my aim is for it to rival any MK3 suit available.

Usually the armor I make has no feet. Shins, knees etc but mobility is never a huge issue - but when you want to make a wearable Iron Man suit, it's the foremost thing on my mind.

Because there is so many parts that need articulation it can be a little mind boggling - especially when you are trying to ascertain whether something was simply a CGI trick or its a real suit. While the helmet mechanism is a pretty well-done sausage at the moment ( by a few people including the screen version) I thought we would start printing from the bottom up instead - mainly because you need to be able to walk! 

So first up will be the shins instead of the helmet. The fit inside the suit is tight, so we will want to get our scales right as we go (my files will all be uniform in scale) but I'm designing this in a modular way that just about any section can be rescaled and still fit. 

Due to the punishment this will take during the sanding and finishing process, I have gone for 4mm for at least the thickness of the feet and shins. 

So, the last thing so sort on this shin/foot section is the sizing of the foot that goes inside, and im doing that at the moment. 

A very very hard thing to make generic.. so the foot is in several sections that can be widened easily.  I went with 3 main pivots and limits so you will be able to take proper steps without walking like you have feet stuck in concrete. As I said, I'm printing this out with you guys (as in it will be the only thing im printing for the next coming weeks..) of course you don't have to follow along but it would help (for both of us)

I wonder if I got an average of foot size we could work on a generic?
Anyway, give it a ponder - I am going to get this prepared so I can have this uploaded tonight, I am about 2 weeks behind on uploads which im catching up on. The closure of 3D hubs has (Seemingly) seen a very large surge in printing jobs for me personally, enough that i've had to expand the farm considerably to keep up.
