Before anything else, Level 1 and 2 Patrons you are getting a great deal of rewards this month, I have just been a little caught up on this Level 3 reward last month for longer than I wanted but it really was a model that required 100% attention. I could not drop it, come back, drop it, come back .. because of the sheer amount of measurements and files im trying to piece together for it..... but I promise you will be well reimbursed for your amazing patience.
Well, my prints are away! I am going to load up about 10 printers to try and get my suit out faster (I printed an entire foot last night while I was asleep on 4 printers..)
I am using myself to model the suit on because I have a typically similar frame for this sort of suit, I am 182cm tall.. close enough to 6ft, and am a fairly light 70kg/154lb. Robert Downey Jr was 5 feet 8" and 170 pounds in the suit, so I figure hey, close enough :) I just need to eat more Vegemite.. .
Sorry for my dodgy workshop floor and sock... but this shows you what the fit is like on a size 11 foot. My widest part of my foot near the toes is 10cm (4'in) , and total length is about 26cm (10.2'in). It is looking like not only a comfortable fit so far, but I will have ample space to add some padding inside. I was going to make a virtual sock that is printed inside the boot, but honestly it made the boots so thicker I think it would have been a mistake - and after all its about being comfortable and being able to walk, and you want something soft in there really.
Times... Well, its looking like each foot will take about 25 hours if you print at 0.2, 0.3 you could be done in much less time. I have used very little filament - I honestly think I will be able to stretch a spool to an entire leg or more.
I am going to go get the Level 1 and 2 rewards all ready now (herochess, more helmets, swords (as in plural...)
then... more parts of the Suit and assembly instructions will be added (although most of the feet and shins are fairly self explanatory .. you can get all your toe caps and mid and heels out no sweat..)
P.S I am 2 days behind also because (and this is as bad as it sounds...) a Goanna crawled into my water tank (Which supplies the whole house...) and died.. yes. So, needless to say its a hell of a job to clean out the tank .
For those that don't know a Goanna is a lizard, but they are sometimes as big as a komodo dragon. This one was about 5 feet long (when it was alive....) but now it just smells like death... Anyway, thats life in the country!
