The order thing is used I think because Gohan's name is also name in Japanese for rice cakes, and also used as for describing a meal itself. AsaGohan = Breakfast HiruGohan = Lunch YoruGohan = Dinner They are only hearing bits and pieces of what they are saying, so big game of telephone.

He gave him the senzu bean because he was an idiot who thought gohan could get angry from getting beat up or pushed in battle. As far anime goes it makes sense since we get a filler hyperbolic time chamber flashback as to why Goku thought the way he did. The manga makes even less sense

He also knew that only a fully powered Cell could push Gohan to the next level, which was the only way of destroying Cell for good. He's not as stupid as everyone thinks, not on the battlefield anyway.

People initially hate on him for this decision, but if Cell got desperate enough in his tired state, he might've decided to stop f*cking around, go full power and take out Gohan before he's able to unleash his potential. Then they're all boned at that point because no one is even close to Cell's full power.
