It's not ever mentioned in the story but Toriyama in a old interview confirmed it to be a reason although he couldn't write it in. It also kinda makes sense based on his history with women back in the original Dragon ball and the fan girls he had. It's also kinda hinted at back in sayian saga Yamcha was grimy by bulma
