In case no-one else has said it, this is loosely based on Homer's "Odyssey". Separately Dasha, can we all get together to buy you a decent chair?

Dave Carmichael

Sorry, shouldn't have used that particular quote, I suppose. But honestly, "where art thou" to "where are you" is pretty damn straightforward, hardly confusing.

LaserLamb

I think that actually sounds kinda funny the way you described some of those xD

Going into a new movie cold is usually better at avoiding spoilers by reading IMDb but maybe a compromise can be reached. Are we capable of making movie suggestions and then writing a short description ourselves? WARNING: the following examples may contain spoilers but without any context it is just gibberish. "Star Wars": Boy meets wizard. They need a fast ship. "The Empire Strikes Back": Boy finds teacher. He is not a good student. "Return of the Jedi": Teddy bears gone wild.

ButtercupsTrueLove

It's easier than that. Being baptized doesn't save you. Believing in Jesus saves you. Being saved makes you want to obey God. Baptism is an outward sign of the believer dying with to sin with Christ and rising again to new life with victory.

Please get yourself a pillow for your back. It's not worth your health.

Jay Perry

I think looking at the brief IMDb summary is fine personally.

Thomas

Thanks for this reaction Dasha, you’re doing a great job. Just keep being yourself, that’s what we’re all here for.

Thomas

Maybe a small pillow would help your back. Thank you for another great reaction Dasha!

Justin Bulkley

PhysicsPixel was very rude and there are plenty of polite ways to get your point across. .

Thats MR. Baldamort

Right, but unfortunately that gets even more confusing for some people, as they don't realize that wherefore means why is he Romeo, not where is he. This stuff has to be confusing if English is not your first language...

Troy Hickman

I will second that suggestion for To kill a mockingbird, a fantastic movie and one of the Great American novels.

Troy Hickman

Seriously one of my favorite films, DEFINITELY my favorite Cohen brothers movie. Basically this was more of an "inspired by Homer's Odyssey" rather than a "based on the Odyssey". The phrase "Bona fide" means "in good faith" in Latin. Basically it just means genuine, provably real. For the record, $10 in 1937 would be $213 today, 1.5 MILLION dollars in '37 would be 32 million bucks today. One minor slip up: The film is set in 1937. George Nelson was shot dead by FBI agents in Chicago in 1934, so the chances of him meeting up with our three protagonists is precisely ZERO. I LOVE the music in this, I've listened to it every since. Speaking of music, one of my favorite off-beat films, which I have NEVER seen a youtube or patreon reaction to, is called A Mighty Wind. It's one of Christopher Guest's mockumentary films. HILARIOUS and entertaining, centered around 3 fictional folk groups coming together for a concert decades after their hayday. The music is ALL original FOR the film. One last thing: on the imdb debate: I don't have a problem with what YOU do, just getting a small idea of the film. If you were doing a huge deep dive before each film, that might be different. I'm not gonna complain about what I've seen in the imdb department. Dasha, just keep doing your own thing. Some may complain but they will get over it.

David Bennett

I enjoyed this movie. I've been meaning to ask you or anyone where the best place to make a movie suggestion is. I think you would enjoy the movie To Kill a Mockingbird (1962); it has an 8.3/10 on IMDb and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I know people don't like you to know anything about a movie, but I don't think this will hurt; it is based on Harper Lee's memories of her family, her neighbors, and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama when she was just 10. Atticus and Jem are both inspired by her father and older brother.

Eddie Perkins

Dasha, "where art thou" is Old English grammar for "where are you". Like the way Shakespeare used to write, as in, "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"

LaserLamb

I understand what they are saying, but I also know what you mean. A little give and take goes a long way; I wouldn't want to watch a movie without having any idea what it's about, but at the same time, we all enjoy watching your reaction to something when you have no idea what's coming or who is in the movie. But no one should ever be rude or demanding to you, and if I were you, I wouldn't take it. As a patron, I greatly respect you and the other members, and we all are here to have a good time.

Eddie Perkins

Blink twice if you are held subscribed against your will

Dasha

I watched Deadpool and Wolverine without looking at IMDB last weekend :)

Dasha

As I create themed poles , I would like to know what the premise of the movie before I add it to the poll, as well as whenever you suggest to watch me something , it’s very often, when you tell me the same overview of what the movie is going to be about. IMDB just gives one sentence that summarizes movie without giving any spoilers. I can stop looking at the summaries since you are asking, but it only makes it more complicated (not the for movies that I have watched already, but they haven’t been released yet) I would also like to ask you guys to remain a little bit calmer and kinder because I started noticing that the messages tones are becoming slightly aggressive , and this is something that shouldn’t be tolerated

Dasha

Well, when many people on youtube and patreon have been asking for a while now. it's frustrating.

PhysicsPixel

Asking is cool, but you sound more like demanding right now.

YoureMrLebowski

Yay! Been looking forward to this! Also yes, no more IMDB research before a movie reaction lol.

John Locke

I have to agree with IMDB. I think you shouldn't be doing that. It really does spoil expectations before going into a film blind. I too am worried you will open IMDB for Deadpool 3. You are the only reactor that actively opens IMDB to spoil the films before going in. Other than looking at the category of film it is for polls. You shouldnt be looking at the cast or what the films are about. in my humble opinion at least.

Thats MR. Baldamort

I'm seriously getting fed up with Dasha checking IMDB before a reaction. Can you please stop doing that? How many times do we have to ask you that???
