Patreon Poll: M. Night Shyamalan's movies
Added 2024-11-01 13:00:15 +0000 UTCLast week's winner will be watched over the weekend.
Remember, you can vote for more than 1 movie, and don't worry if the movie you voted for doesn't win! because don't forget, I do 3 movies a week ;)
I liked your idea to expand polls to include not only genres but also actors/ directors/ writers. So starting with M. Night Shyamalan as I am a huge fun of The Sixth Sense and Signs.

Shit. I forgot to specify which ones. Lol, all good, I hope to see some of these in polls! I think Dasha would really enjoy them

2024-11-06 21:45:10 +0000 UTCI didn't think they were, I thought the description had far less than you'd get from a movie trailer. However, at your suggestion I went back and made some edits.

2024-11-06 20:14:37 +0000 UTCI like the suggestions, though some of these descriptions are quite spoilery, just a little fyi lol

2024-11-06 19:53:28 +0000 UTCIn anticipation that a new poll will begin soon, I'd like to throw up a list of movies that I hope get considered for future polls: Here are some recommendations for future polls or movies along with a brief description. I may repost from time to time to keep these suggestions in recent memory. These are just suggestions. Others have made some excellent suggestions as well. Thrillers: Ransom (1996) Starring Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise. This is an intense movie with some gripping scenes about a rich man who's child is abducted and held for ransom. Mel Gibson is phenomenal in this, as is Gary Sinise. Mel Gibson's acting is incredible. This movie is made for reactions. Mystic River (2003) Starring Kevin Bacon, Tim Robbins, and Sean Penn. Another intense movie with gut-wrenching scenes. In this one, Sean Penn is the one who delivers a gut-punch of a scene that stays with you. It is an investigation/mystery thriller as childhood friends deal with a traumatic past as adults living in a troubled neighborhood. This is one I hardly ever see reactions to but absolutely should have them. Kids Movies: The NeverEnding Story (1984) Starring Noah Hathaway and Barret Oliver. A fantasy adventure tale that follows a boy who steals a book and becomes immersed in a surprising story in which he plays a pivotal role. This one is a classic kids movie that at times is very adult. You don't see many children's stories like this anymore. It too has some gut-wrenching scenes that have scarred many kids in it's day. A can't miss! And that musical score... legendary. Hearing the nostalgic theme song still gives me goosebumps. Family Movies: Marley and Me (2008) Starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson Made for dog-lovers, but punishes them all the same. IMO, not quite as tough as Hachi was, but hits you in the feels nonetheless. Humans who have had a hyper and challenging dog can relate to this movie. It follows a couple through their journey together. Through it all they have Marley with them, a mischievous yellow Labrador who gets into all sorts of trouble. This one has been recommended over and over, probably because it's good and also because everyone knows Dasha will be impacted by this movie. Look Who's Talking (1989) Starring Kirstie Alley, Bruce Willis and John Travolta A fun and funny family movie about a woman who is pregnant with another man's child but meets the unlikely love of her life while going into labor. Bruce Willis does the voice behind Mikey, the baby that is the catalyst behind the love story. We follow baby Mikey's hilarious thoughts from the moment he is conceived. Suspense Movies: No Escape (2015) Starring Owen Wilson An American family is living in a 3rd world country that suddenly ends up in a violent anti-American military coup. It follows Wilson, his wife and their children as they try to escape. If you're looking for a movie that constantly has you on the edge of your seat, this one is it. You hardly ever get a moment to breathe the entire movie. Festive Holiday Movies: For Halloween: The Haunting of Hill House (2019) A 1 season series that will probably have to wait until next October. A supernatural horror drama that follows the lives - simultaneously, both past and present - of the Crain Family. This family moved into the haunted Hill House with plans to rehabilitate and sell the mansion for a lot of money so they can then build their forever home. Unfortunately the house had other plans and the family becomes forever scarred. Over 2 decades later, as adults, the family is forced to confront their haunted past and mend their broken relationships. The acting and writing in this movie is incredible. It does have some scares, but it is a very slow show that is heavy on dialogue and relationships. Cassie of Popcorn in Bed just released episodes 3-10 all together in one 2 and a half hour long reaction, and on a Saturday afternoon I have to admit I binged the entire reaction. :-) For Christmas: Prancer (1989) Starring Sam Elliot and Rebecca Harrell Tickell A lesser known Christmas classic. I never saw this movie until a few years ago when my girlfriend told me I was insane for never having watched this as it is an all-time classic Christmas movie. I watched it and loved it. It is a touching small town family movie that follows a young girl with a big heart clinging to her belief in Santa Claus and the Christmas Spirit. Her world is thrown upside down when she comes across a wounded reindeer that she is convinced is Prancer, one of Santa's reindeer. Meet Me In Saint Louis (1944) Starring Judy Garland An all-time classic that is partly a musical and follows a mid-western family in the early 1900's, just before the famous World's Fair. To best summarize this one, I will plagiarize wikipedia: The film spotlights the sisters' education in the ways of the world, which includes, but isn't limited to, learning about life and love, courtesy of the prototypical boy next door. In the end, love -- accompanied by song, dance and period costumes, all in glorious Technicolor -- conquers all. Rom-Coms: My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) Starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney, and Rupert Everett One of the few rom-coms I will ever recommend anyone, as it is one of the few that isn't made to humiliate men. This story follows arrogant and vindictive Julia Roberts on an adventure when she finds out that her best friend (played by Dermot Mulroney) is engaged. Roberts always thought he would propose to her given their history together, but it turns out he met someone else, Cameron Diaz. Roberts, after years of stringing Mulroney along, suddenly becomes possessive of him and wants him back. Sports Movies: Jerry Maguire (1996) Starring Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Renee Zelleweger A very touching comedy/romance sports movie depicting a Sports Agent played by Tom Cruise who realizes his industry had been corrupted by a desire for money and lost it's humanity in regards to treatment of their athletes. When things get tough, he goes on a downward spiral in which everything falls apart. The 4 year old son of Renee Zelleweger's character in the movie stole the show with his absolute cuteness. I've heard women say this movie is the most attractive Tom Cruise has ever looked. P.S. For some reason - and I may be alone in this - Renee Zelleweger's character reminds me of Dasha and Natalia. I can't single out exactly why. Maybe it's because their facial expressions are similar? Sci-Fi Movies: Pitch Black (2000) Starring Vin Diesel and Cole Hauser In the distant future a space transport is hit by space debris and crash lands on a remote planet. The survivors contend with an escaped murderer and the horror of the dark. A Sci-fi Horror Adventure that fits in that genre alongside Aliens (1986). Since Natalia likes Sci-fi Adventure movies, this is probably a great one for the two of them to watch together. I will leave it there for now. I have so many more great movies to suggest but this is a good amount for now. I did not necessarily list my personal favorite movies of all time, but chose movies that would make a great reaction and/or ones I think Dasha would love.

2024-11-05 22:33:59 +0000 UTCThe Village has such a good cast and is so well shot. The acting is amazing. Dasha would love the atmosphere and feel of this movie. Wouldn't a tie be great? Fingers crossed.

2024-11-01 22:24:39 +0000 UTCHey, that's unfair voter influence! π I'm joking. Split is a good one.

2024-11-01 20:04:19 +0000 UTCThis poll really hits close to home. Some scenes from βSplitβ were filmed in my neighborhood here in Philadelphia. I have also bumped into M. Night at a 76ers game.

2024-11-01 19:40:49 +0000 UTCYeah, I remember it specifically because Unbreakable is one of my favorites, and Dasha's reaction was excellent.
Troy Hickman
2024-11-01 19:02:00 +0000 UTCso you watched unbreakable already? i wont say which movie but one of the movies already on the list is better off if you watch unbreakable!

2024-11-01 18:03:29 +0000 UTC@Mchael If you search for it you can find it. It was a good reaction.
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-11-01 17:15:54 +0000 UTCI don't even remember her reacting to Unbreakable. I'm sure I've seen it, it's not a movie I would have passed over, but I can't seem to remember the reaction...

2024-11-01 14:15:49 +0000 UTCSigns gets a lot of crap too, but I love Signs. Yes, the alien's weakness and their overall ineptitude is bad, but setting that aside, Signs is great movie. Incredible acting, amazing atmosphere.
Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2024-11-01 14:13:43 +0000 UTCRosemarys Baby almost won in the last poll. I hope you watch it
puppers
2024-11-01 14:06:19 +0000 UTCI enjoyed it too. I mean its an odd movie for sure but then again so are all of Shyamalons films lol. His films are like an acquired taste for beer, but the beer is very shitty American Beer.

2024-11-01 13:56:35 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you know this Dasha but Split is a sequal to "Unbrealable" that you saw in the channel a while back that had Bruce Willis in it. Split isnt directly connected in the traditional sense but it's the same universe as split and then "glass" is the 3rd film in that saga. Also, would be amazing if you watched the 3rd and finals How to Train Your Dragon movie! Hope you have a good weekend and also, for fans of Battlestar Galactica starting soon in the channel "SO SAY WE ALL!" Dasha, you will come to know that phrase very soon! I'm super duper excited!

2024-11-01 13:54:14 +0000 UTCDays of Thunder and Deja Vu are great i think.

2024-11-01 13:23:23 +0000 UTCSomebody already requested Days of Thunder. Its a fun Tom Cruise movie, Dasha! Would be awesome to see it in poll sometime! You'd love it! Voting for The village on this poll! I think its my fav of the movies here.

2024-11-01 13:11:02 +0000 UTCThis is a neat idea for polls! I have a request for a similar poll. from Director 'Tony Scott' who directed Top Gun and had passed away. "Days of Thunder (1990) "Deja Vu" (2006) "Crimson Tide (1995) "Beverly Hills Cop 2" (1987) "Enemy of the State" (1998)
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-11-01 13:04:49 +0000 UTCThe Village is an interesting one. People seem to love it or hate it. I actually liked it, but I also understand why some didn't.
