Deliverance - Youtube Verison

So I have mixed feelings after watching this movie tbh. I think this scene (you know what I mean) took a huge toll on me :( I thought my tolerance of horrifying moments in movies grew high but looks like it didn't lol

1939 Good Bye. Mr. Chips.... a film that will sooth your Soul

Danny T

Robert Redford Paul Newman the Sting.

zynjams

It was still easier to watch than the Anthony Michael Hall movie Johnny Be Good... 🤮

Troy Hickman

Not to be confused with the recent movie Sting, which I believe is about a giant spider. I don't think Dasha wants to cleanse her pallet with that...😉

Troy Hickman

I think that Dasha handled the "indecent assault" scene as well as could be expected... tough watch and it definitely changed the emotional background of the movie. As much as I personally would rarely watch this movie, I think it fulfilled its as art in "disturbing the comfortable" although "comforting the disturbed" I don't see happening here. Whether this was worthwhile or not could be easily arguable. I have seen worse stuff with no redeeming value at all.

Michael Labs

OMG who suggested you watch this lol ... Not I lol

justin swan

Hello/Privet Please excuse me if this info has already has been discussed,... "Does Dasha like coffee?"

Danny T

may I request the movie the Sting as a pallet cleanser

zynjams

it's a good movie; I like the music. however, I can never watch this movie again because of that horrible sequence.

zynjams

Now you are assuming how I felt about her reaction which had nothing to with anything I just said LMFAO.

Thats MR. Baldamort

Doce, I've lost track of who you're responding to here, so I don't know if I am supposed to say anything about anything here or not. One thing I will disagree with, however, is your comment that this is not how things are in Appalachia. My people are from Appalachia, and this was pretty right on the money. In fact, this was similar to a lot of stuff that I saw growing up, and bear in mind I grew up in Indiana. I think maybe these kinds of experiences are more common than you think, but maybe that's because they weren't part of your experience (which is probably a good thing).

Troy Hickman

I’ll let it drop but what you call condescension, I call empathy. If you can watch her reaction to that and feel good, we just see the world differently.

Doce

Its not a social experiment dude, its just a suggestion to keep from being spoiled other than the genera and the poster. Im not the only one who had that notion. Holy crap fam lot of people here and in her youtube comments were asking and suggesting to her to not read descriptions as more of them than not, they spoil major aspects of movies. Its really that simple. There isnt some stupid "social experiment" to it just because all of a sudden she watched a movie that had a adverse reaction to a couple of the moments in it. Dasha does not need protecting, she is a grown woman, its condescending to think she cant handle going into movies blind.

Thats MR. Baldamort

Don’t do that. I never insulted anyone here, nor would I. I know I have engaged with you before so I will respond to your post. If you actually enjoyed this movie, then yes, we are different types of people. The notion that this somehow reflects the darker side of the human experience is fallacy. This is not how people live, not even in Appalachia. This movie is fantasy, which is cool. I guess what I was really saying is that to suggest this type of movie, while also demanding that she not know what it is about is some sort of weird social experiment. If someone knows what they are getting into and they make that choice, I am happy to keep my opinions with me.

Doce

While it sucks that Dasha had a more negative experience with that scene. This movie is meant to be hard to watch and triggering. In hindsight sure we could of said to dasha that "just be prepared its a hard movie to watch" which wont spoil anything in my opinion, I wont sit here and say that she shouldnt have allowed to watch it or assume people here had bad intent on requesting it.

JokesterHollywood

It's one of the harshest movie watching experiences. Kudos for making it through!

Hunter DeRensis

Your dad did good, Eddie. He prepared you for life. You would have been much worse off if he had been one of those helicopter parents that protected you from everything so that when you did grow up, you were a total jerk because no one had ever said no to you.

Troy Hickman

Dasha has never made it clear to anybody here what triggers her other than claustrophobia, so not exactly sure why you or anybody here is blaming patrons for suggesting this movie, when quite frankly, she has seen far more triggering movies on the channel and enjoying them. Lets not gatekeep what she should and shouldn't watch based on your own personal morals. "whatever this is" is actually quite higher rated psychological thriller that even won several awards. No matter what you may think, most people enjoyed this movie. Not sure why its a shock to you that this of all movies has been requested. There isnt some malice intent on why this movie is requested, its simply a good psychological thriller. Not rocket science. Can we not be pretentious by acting like some of you have some moral high ground here towards Dasha? Sheesh. So condescending and unnecessary.

Thats MR. Baldamort

Yes but I didn't say that everything was for everyone. I'm just saying that part of the problem with the world currently is that we try to create safe spaces and trigger warnings, and because of it we are making ourselves totally unprepared for any of the uglier aspects of life. I've been dealing with college students for years, and culturally we are turning out generations of people who are not going to be able to deal with so much of real life (and no, I'm not saying that your average person off the street is necessarily going to have to deal with what Ned Beatty does in the movie). I'm just saying that the nastier parts of human nature are still parts of human nature, and if you are going to understand who we are as a whole, you have to psychologically deal with that too. My gosh, we have people out there who think there is absolutely no difference between an unkind word and a punch in the nose. And I'm not saying everyone should watch Deliverance to broaden their understanding of things; I'm just saying that in my opinion, watching something that is difficult to watch does not necessarily mean it's not worthwhile to watch.

Troy Hickman

I respect your opinion but I don’t fully agree. Not everything has to be for everyone. When this was suggested, I very much wanted to at least warn her. It’s why there are such things as “trigger warnings”. And there is a whole lotta grey between whimsical and whatever we would call this.

"Hell or High Water" Dash check it out soon as possible f**king excellent movie 🍿🍿🍿🍿

Joseph Powell

Its okay Eddie, I was right there with you. Dont take it personally. If Dasha isn't blaming anybody here don't blame yourself either. She still wanted us to watch the movie with her, or else she wouldnt of went through the trouble of posting it imo :)

Thats MR. Baldamort

What sick person recommended this movie? 🙄 I just read what she wrote, and now I feel bad. Like my father said when he took me to see this."I wish this world were all puppy dogs and rainbows, but it's not; there are sick people out there."

Eddie Perkins

I have no idea 🙄

Eddie Perkins

I had a lot to say about that subject over in the patreon comments, so I won't repeat it here, but I do think that part of the reason that movies are an art form rather than just an amusement is because they can deal with the less pleasant aspects of life and you can still get something out of that experience. I love lighthearted whimsical movies, but I also love movies where I have to struggle with something. I think one of the amazing things about the human experience is that we can also gain something from those moments of tribulation. But that's just my take on it.

Troy Hickman

I’ll be honest, I watched this movie once years ago and have zero desire to watch again. I do question why some of you were so anxious to convince her to watch it. You can live a long, happy life without ever seeing this movie.

Doce

I havnt seen this movie in almost 20 years, but even i know the scene you are talking about. I think anybody who has seen this movie won't ever forget it. Its suppose to be a crazy movie and they did a good job making it feel that way. Since its a "Psychological thriller" Good thing we have Tucker and Dale movie winning next poll. You'll actually love that movie.

JokesterHollywood

Hey Dasha, I can guess what scene you're talking about.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Excited to check this reaction out since it been requested for a while. Didn't think this movie would had this effect on you, so I feel bad a bit. Hope you don't hate us 🫣

Thats MR. Baldamort

Well that's horrifying

Fantomex

It was requested by several people over the course of last year lol

JokesterHollywood

Oh good lord, which one these perverts got her to watch this movie? 🤦🏻‍♂️
