Sometimes I don't think people realize how important tradition is to a culture. Some people will tell you that modern America doesn't really have its own traditions, but it sure does. For example, for 60 years now, folks have been tuning in once a year for the Charlie Brown Christmas special. There were a few years there where there were actually activists trying to get the network not to run it anymore, but thankfully that went by the wayside. We need these bonding cultural moments more than we realize. Oh, I love Greek food too. A good moussaka is a thing of beauty and a joy forever, or at least until I get it into my stomach. I don't think I have ever dated anyone from a vastly different culture, but given how unaware of the rest of the world my family is, it is all a culture clash. When I started dating a Canadian woman, my mom asked "do they speak English in Canada?" 🙄
