2025-02-22 01:17:46 +0000 UTCWatching somebody get very flustered, hot and bothered to the point of actually struggling to get through that movie was just as entertaining as much as it was an odd awkward experience lol. Needless to say, Dasha needed several buckets of cold water after that to put those very hot flames out. xD

2025-02-19 16:54:11 +0000 UTCBad timing for the dog comment. I literally just got finished watching another reaction to Hachi. I am not sure why I put myself through that, particularly since Hachi was an Akita and I have that same bond with my Akita, Kinjo. If I think about it, I suppose that I keep watching the story because it is beautiful. The story is incredibly heartbreaking, but it is heartbreaking because the bond between Hachi and Parker was so beautiful. It was the purity of their bond and Hachi's loyalty that makes the story so heart wrenching. Without that, the story wouldn't be as sad. The pain and beauty of the story are intrinsically linked. You don't get the full impact of how amazing the story was without the hurt, so feeling the hurt is also to feel the pure goodness of Hachi's loyalty, and I suppose that I still want to feel that. It's amazing that after seeing the whole movie twice and a score of reactions to it that it still packs it's punch.

2025-02-19 16:20:44 +0000 UTCOr look at it this way: any dog you see in a movie that was made before the year 2000 is almost certainly dead now...π

2025-02-19 15:47:53 +0000 UTCYup, you do this enough eventually you'll find some comparisons that blow your mind. One for me is that the Beastmaster is closer to Gladiator than Gladiator is to now. Or you could say that Pirates of the Caribbean is further away from today than Return of the Jedi is away from Pirates of the Caribbean. LOL! Mindfuck!

2025-02-18 22:47:45 +0000 UTCDoes anyone else relate the passage of time to movies? For instance, I'll sometimes tell someone, "Back to the Future is closer to Anchorman than Anchorman is to now." It seems that relating it in such a way blows people's minds more than just talking about how long ago something was. One I got my brother with was that Jaws is closer to the Matrix than the Matrix is to now. This is what happens when you've been a movie-lover your whole life. π€£

2025-02-18 13:06:16 +0000 UTCMichael, you are right about big reactions, but I'm amazed how many reaction channels have no problem just giving us the blah to which you refer. I have to assume they just think that people will watch anything on YouTube because it's there (much the way that Jerry and George on Seinfeld told the network executives that people would watch their proposed show just because "it's on television"). Maybe they think that they're Sterling personalities are enough to carry the material, but that's almost never true. Those are usually the reaction channels that I try a single time and then decide my time would be better spent watching ghost videos...π

2025-02-18 03:18:55 +0000 UTCπ€£ I'm sure there are! While I disagree with her take on detective crime movies, I was a bit underwhelmed by Longlegs. I didn't feel there was a whole lot of real intelligent investigating going on, like you see in Silence of the Lambs or Jennifer 8. The scares weren't really there, either. Lastly, the main character was unrelatable, and I didn't really care about her as a character. Nicholas Cage was successfully creepy, but that's really all I got out of it. Hollywood just doesnt make movies like they used to.

2025-02-17 21:13:17 +0000 UTCI'm sitting down to watch "Longlegs" with Katy right now. I'm waiting for her to finish the popcorn. Anyone here seen it? I'm interested in watching it, but I had to talk her into it. She hates investigation crime movies. We are polar opposites on this. I'm hoping it turns out to be good or else she's not going to trust me for the next movie pick I have...
Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2025-02-17 00:44:55 +0000 UTCI'm looking forward to Bridge to Terabithia. I've been watching reactions to that movie lately, and interestingly... I'm seeing male reactors hit by it even worse than female reactors. I have ideas on why that may be so, but I won't share those thoughts until Dasha has seen the movie. I want to avoid possible spoilers.
Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2025-02-17 00:40:16 +0000 UTCThat was my vote as well. It will give Dasha nightmares. I feel a little guilty about always voting for movies that put her through emotional roller coasters, but this is a reaction channel and getting big reactions is the name of the game. No one wants to see blah reactions, so big reaction movies is the way to go. That reasoning - although true - doesn't rid me of the guilt, though. I still feel a bit of it voting for intense movies.
Michael@GetFitwithDogs

2025-02-16 04:38:56 +0000 UTCPeople absolutely have different tastes, which is why I was asking those who love EH what I'm not getting. It's not bad, I just dont see what puts it over Hereditary. Talk To Me was okay. Nothing special. Not bad though. Smile was an AMAZING idea. The ending sucked. They exposed too much. Personally, when it comes to horror I'd like to see the Ring or the Grudge on the polls.
Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2025-02-16 03:23:04 +0000 UTCHey, here's a crazy idea: people just have different tastes. As I said in my post, I for the life of me can't understand why so many people seem to like Talk to Me. There seems to be a trend these days where a horror movie will become kind of a big deal quickly, and then when I see it I'm just like wth? I felt the same way about Smile, which had a killer ad campaign, but didn't really live up to my expectations. Is Event Horizon the best movie on this list? No, I don't think so. But I did find it pretty creepy and a fairly decent movie. And I'll be able to watch the reaction to it more easily than Talk toe, or certainly Hocus Pocus...π
Troy Hickman
2025-02-16 03:15:54 +0000 UTCYou arnt missing much really. In most other reaction spaces its always winning polls because its just a trend film to vote for. Most reactors come out from it feeling meh or average about it. So my guess is, people who vote for it just have a desire for nostalgia more than anything. Which reactors wont feel. Idk, I cant understand it. Its an below average sci fi horror, literally 35% on rotten tomatoes. Its trash. Every film on this poll is way higher rated and the horror enjoyed way more, make for more entertaining reactions. Hoping to see these films in a poll again sometimes because this is a crying shame imo lol

Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2025-02-16 01:17:37 +0000 UTCThe Babadook was decent. Not amazing. I saw it the first time thinking of it as a small film that was unknown, and from that perspective I thought it was quite good. However, not on the level of movies like the Conjuring or Hereditary.
Michael@GetFitwithDogs
2025-02-16 01:07:55 +0000 UTCGuys, am I the only one who didn't find Event Horizon scary? I love horror, I love sci-fi. This movie was just okay. Decent. Not memorable. Not scary. I'm starting to feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing the poll results. What am I missing?

2025-02-16 00:40:30 +0000 UTCSince Dasha is voting Conjuring 2, we're watching Conjuring 2. That is obvious. The Babadook didn't go over well with me. Don't know why. I must be in the minority on that. I vote Conjuring 2, Hereditary, and X. All are extra scary. The latter two are by A24, and if you know A24 (The Witch, Midsommar, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Ex Machina, Tusk, and more) just gives the movie something that much more creepy. In any case, if X takes a winning position, which I hope it does, I wish you luck editing that one for youtube. :)

2025-02-15 16:53:29 +0000 UTCI love all these except one (the Conjuring universe just doesn't do it for me). But especially happy to see the original Wicker Man. I've never seen anyone react to it, it's weird, wonderful, part-musical, part-detective story, part-horror with an all-time great ending.

2025-02-15 13:39:39 +0000 UTCOkay, far be it from me to ever say something in a few words when I can do it in a thousand. The Babadook - wonderful psychological suspense movie. Some of the creepiest horror of the last couple of decades. Hereditary - just awesome as a horror movie. Creepy, eerie, violent, twisty plot, just great. From the same director as Midsummar. The conjuring 2 - even better than the first, another "true" tale based on the exploits of Ed and Lorraine Warren, which means there's also a cool love story in it. If you don't mind losing some sleep, Dasha, you should watch it. Talk to Me - the only movie on this list I do not like. I thought it was tremendously overrated, and very trite in terms of current horror X - one of my favorite horror movies of the last decade. It's sort of a slasher film, but they take it to other areas that you haven't really seen in horror movies before. I won't go into it more because I don't want to give anything away. Also a good dollop of sexuality. You must also watch the other two movies in the trilogy, Pearl, and Maxine. The Wicker Man - certainly not a bad movie, although you might find it a little bit dry. The Nicolas Cage remake is a pretty terrible movie, but man is at a lot of fun to watch, if you go into it knowing how bad it is. The bees! Event Horizon - a mix of horror and science fiction, and a genuinely spooky movie. People have kind of rediscovered it, as I don't think it did very well when it first came out many years ago. I would be okay with any of these as long as it is Dasha, but Talk to Me just did not grab me

2025-02-15 05:34:32 +0000 UTCEasy. Because its the trendy movie to vote for in reaction spaces when it shows up on polls. Not everybody, but a lot of people mindlessly follow trends instead of thinking for themselves. Event horizon is objectively the worst movie on this poll. Conjuring 2, Hereditary, or hell even the other films here will absolutely make for a better reaction and are far more horrifying, but since Event Horizon is the "trend" in reaction spaces, its what will win. Even I was going to vote for it until I saw the other movies on this poll because I do in fact like Event Horizon. Its no competition to the other films here though.

2025-02-15 03:16:59 +0000 UTCSome decent options. I vote Conjuring 2, Hereditary and Talk to Me. Hereditary and Talk to Me are both A24 which makes some really good creepy content (The Witch, Midsommar).
